What Is Depression:

Depression causes felling of sadness or a loss of interest in activities you once enjoyed. This serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think and how you act, but fortunately its treatable.

There are many possible causes of depression like faulty mood regulation by the brain, genetic vulnerability, stressful life events, medication and medical problems. These forces interact to bring on Depression.

Abuse, physical, sexual, or emotional abuse can make you more vulnerable to depression later in life. Death or someone you love loss can also depressed you or something related or have a deep connection to your heart can cause you depressed after you lose that.

Depression occurs more frequently in older adults. But WHY?? (so here it is)

Changing in an older person’s mood, hobbies, activity level and personality is because as they got older may cause feeling of uneasiness, stress and sadness. For instance: moving from work to retirement, losing someone they loved or dealing with serious illness can leave people sad or anxious. They are becoming weak they won’t able to do things they did before like running, playing game but now it’s hard for them to get up, they start missing their older days and started feeling sad which cause them depressed.

HOW TO CHEER THEM UP

Listen and learn, there is no denying that we live in an ageist society.

Ask them to dance, sing and play with them indoor games and tell them daddy jokes to make them laugh. Complete puzzles and do other activities together.

Tell them your childhood secrets and ask them that if they had done it in their childhood.

Go to photos and mementos together.

Let them be themselves..

Buspirone is an anti-anxiety drug that has been shown to be effective for older adults. The most common side effects that can occur with use of buspirone include: dizziness. nausea. headache. Buspirone is first made in 1968 and approved for medical use in the United States in 1986.

The patent placed on buspirone expired in 2001 and it is now available as a generic drug.

Some examples of chronic illnesses that may cause depression are diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, kidney disease, HIV and AIDS, lupus, and multiple sclerosis(MS).
Hypothyroidism may lead to depressed feelings.
Depression can effect the immune system, making it harder for your body to fight infection. Some vaccinations, such as the shingles vaccine, may even be less effective in increase risk for substance abuse.

EFFECTS OF DEPRESSION ON YOUR BODY

A depression not only makes a person feel sad and dejected, it can also damage the brain permanently, so the person has difficulties remembering and concentrating once the disease is over. Up to 20% patients never make a full recovery.
Anxiety and Depression Can Cause Brain Cells to Malfunction.
When your brain is in a constant state of stress and anxiety, the stems cells in your brain may begin to malfunction. When anxiety causes these cells to malfunction, the connection between the hippocampus and the amygdala becomes extremely rigid.

Mental illness can cause personality changes in adults.
Issues like anxiety, depression, bipolar disorders and PTSD can certainly cause personality changes.

When people are depressed , they may end up tensing specific facial muscles, grimacing or frowning, and these
‘negative facial expressions can become sort of etched into the skin in the form of fine lines and wrinkles.
Depression has been linked to memory problems , such as forgetfulness or confusion. It can also make it difficult to focus on work or other tasks, make decisions, or think clearly. Stress and anxiety can also lead to poor memory. Depression is associated with short term memory loss.

The main and most common causes of getting depressed and sad are if you lose someone you loved, getting fired from a job, going through a divorce, and other difficult situations can lead a person to feel sad, lonely and scared.
Depression mostly occurs in women than a men.
In younger children depression is more likely to manifest more refusal, anxiety when separated from parents, and worrying about parents dying. Depressed teenagers tend to be irritated, sulky, and get in to trouble in school.
In older adults depression may manifest more subtly as they tend to be less likely to admit feelings of sadness or grief and medical illness which are more common in this population also contributes or causes the depression.

HOW TO BE HAPPY??????

Smile……….You don’t need to smile only when you’re happy if you’re sad and feeling depressed just smile and you’ll feel that your feelings are changing into happiness, Listen pop music and stop listening music that are related to heart or sad music.
Eat with mood in mind. Eat happily because the food you eat effects on in what mood you’re eating food, if you’re eating food sadly and eating something you don’t like effects your body sadly and negatively or if you’ll eat something happily it gives you energy and leave a good effect on your body.
Be grateful and give compliment to others it’ll make you and others happy.
Do things that you like….. Don’t think of what people will say just do the things that you like and love doing.
Get plenty of sleep………..When we are sad , anxious and feeling depressed it effect our mental and physical health and you’ll get a little amount of sleep. If you’re sleeping less than 8 hours it’s dangerous for your mental health and you’ll feel lazy all day.
HOW TO GET SLEEP:
Watch when and what are you eating (start eating healthy)
Avoid looking at anything just blank your mind don’t think of anything and focus on sleeping.
Avoid naps during the day
Practice yoga and meditation
Get on a schedule (make a productive schedule and follow that )

GIVE YOUR STRESS WINGS, AND LET IT FLY AWAY.
